Review: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Goodreads Synopsis- Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy.Tessa Gray should be happy - aren't all brides happy?
Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute.
A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. He needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa's heart, will do anything to save her.

Overall Thoughts- OMG... I don't even know what to say. The feelings coursing through me are just so intense I'm afraid this review is going to turn into a major spoiler, so for those of you who haven't read it yet and don't want to read any spoilers- DON'T PROCEED, STOP RIGHT THERE, TURN AROUND, AND DON'T COLLECT $200.

Before I started reading clockwork princess, I had a strong suspicion I was not going to make it through this book in one piece- and guess what? I was so right (its times like these when I love/hate being right).

This book tore me apart from the inside, it made me bawl my eyes out, it put me back together and then it repeated the process. Over and over and over... and over again...

This was a pretty bitter-sweet story for me- just as Tessa loved both boys equally, so did I. I didn’t want Will to be miserable, I didn’t want Jem to die and I didn’t want Tessa to have to live forever. I laughed when Gabriel acted like Will was responsible for the outbreak of Demon Pox, snorted when Cecily drove Will nuts, sighed when Gideon asked Sophie to bring him the scones he didn’t want, cried when Jem supposedly died, cried when Will died, and cried some more when Jem turned into a mortal and got back together with Tessa. *Side note- I really enjoyed Cecily’s character; she’s feisty. :D *

My emotions were all over the place as I read- and it didn’t help that I was reading in class and I had to squash the lump in my throat. The feels.... oh the feels that came with reading Clockwork Princess cannot be described properly- the English language lacks the words needed to describe it. It’s a ‘you-got-to-read-it-to-know-it’ kind of thing.

Despite my sob fest, I got to give props to Cassandra Clare. It was a beautiful way to end the Infernal Devices and everything wrapped up pretty nicely. I just wish Tessa had turned mortal along with Jem, it really pains me to think about what she’ll go through when Jem passes away into the other world and reunites with Will. Nonetheless, I don’t regret any of it- the reading, the sobbing, or the emotional rollercoaster.

I ended up winning two copies of this book, one which I gave to my friend. The first copy was a courtesy of Jen Ryland (check out her blog- http://jenryland.blogspot.com), the second copy was a courtesy of Goodreads: First Reads and Simon & Schuster. I'd like to thank all of them, and Cassandra Clare too, for writing such an awesome and heart-wrenching series!

For those of you who haven’t read Clockwork Princess yet and ended up reading this review despite my warnings- don’t let me scare you off; it’s all worth it, trust me!

                                                               Happy reading people!
